Event #23 $230 Deepest Stack NLH was the last event of the 2019 Borgata Fall Poker Open. It was a long day of tournament poker that came to an end in the early morning hours when a winner emerged from the 325-entry field.
Jeremiah Budin was the last man standing taking home $17,023 and his first BFPO trophy. Budin earned the nickname ’The Terminator’ from his tablemate Carlos Matos after catching fire in the late stages of the tournament.

Budin entered the final table with the chip lead and held strong near the top of the chip counts for much of the night. He entered heads-up play with nearly a 2:1 chip deficit but scooped the first few pots and he was off and running.
In the last hand of play, Walter Sarmiento moved all in holding and was snapped off by the of Budin. It was about 4am on Thanksgiving morning when the final trophy event of the 2018 Borgata Fall Poker Open came to an end and with it, the exciting November series was a wrap.Wenhao Ying – 1st Place – 2018 BFPO Championship
Earlier on Wednesday, a relatively unknown 24-year-old grad student named Wenhao Ying went wire-to-wire on the live streamed final table to claim 1st place in the $1 Million Guaranteed Championship event, along with $200,000* and his first Borgata title. In fact, this is his first title on record, more than doubling his lifetime earnings, which have all come in the previous 27 months.
Ying faced down a final table that included three very experienced pros: Paul Volpe, Brian Altman, and Matt Wantman. Altman ran into a cooler early that sent him out in 6th place, but the other two were there at the end with Ying. The sixteen-day-long series was kicked off with the $500,000 Guaranteed Deep Stack No Limit Hold’em event. The prize pool came close to $800,000 and another young player claimed that title as well. First place and $128,359* went to 22-year-old Ohioan Frank Lagodich on his first-ever trip to Borgata. After getting heads-up with Borgata regular and poker pro Joe Cappuccio, Lagodich took the chip lead and the final two negotiated an adjusted payout with an even split of the remaining prize pool.
It was a good series for some of the “old school” Borgata tournament grinders as well. After several near misses, Bob Camano finally claimed his first Borgata title in Omaha/Stud High/Low Mix event. Andrew Klein booked his sixth Borgata win in the Old School NLH event, moving him into fifth place on the Most Wins at Borgata list. Howard Wolper waited until the final night of the series to make the money in Event 20, notching his 117th lifetime cash at Borgata, extending a record that’s going to be hard to beat.
The Ladies were once again in the spotlight, with two regulars claiming titles and setting records. BorgataPoker.com sponsored pro Katie Stone made the final six of the Deepest Stack NLH event and negotiated an adjusted payout giving her 1st place and $19,337*. This was her third Borgata title, putting her in a tie for first on the ‘Most Wins at Borgata by a Woman’ list. Until this series, Patricia Barsanti-Chou held this record. Just four days later, Anna Antimony won the Almighty Stack, coming out on top of a field of 1,073 runners to take the top prize of $91,586. This was also her third Borgata title, putting her in a three-way tie with Stone and Barsanti-Chou.
If there was a ‘Grind Until You Get There’ award, it would go to Carlos Matos for this BFPO series. He finished 5th in Event 9, the Deepest Stack, for $19,337*, then followed that up with a 3rd place finish in Event 15, the Saturday Series Deep Stack, for $14,432*. He finally got there and capped the series with a win in Event 19, the Deeper Stack, for $14,000* and his first Borgata Open trophy.

I recently purchased a Cisco 2911 to replace my 1921 for use at home, as I needed an extra WIC slot. Now that they’ve been obsoleted by the ISR 4000 series, they’re starting to appear on eBay for relatively palatable sums. For me, the 2911 was a good choice because it has four WIC slots and fits in a 450mm deep rack, whereas the 2901 requires at least a 600mm deep rack, which is far too large for my home office. The 1941 was another possibility, but it’s not enough of an upgrade, and quite frankly, too damn ugly.
Without even having to bother plugging it in and switching it on, I know this thing is going to be too noisy for a home environment. The good news is that the standard array of leaf-blower strength fans are only needed when this product is used in extreme situations, i.e. loaded up with a four WIC cards, a 24-port Gigabit switch service module, with PoE, all ports at full power, and roasting in a street cabinet on a searing hot day in Egypt.
As this does not remotely resemble my use case, I can do away with most of the cooling. First stop – the fan module:
Top is the original, which I am going deaf just looking at, and below is my modified module.
I’ve removed all four of the original fans and fitted a single 70mm 4-wire fan (Delta AFB0712HHB). In order to prevent the system log from filling up with warnings about failed / missing fans, I’ve connected the tach signal from that one fan to the input for the 3 fans.
A quick run of ‘show env’ reveals that this has done the trick. The router being none the wiser to three of the fans being absent.
Just in case it isn’t obvious – the pinout for that connector (Molex 44133-1208) is as follows:

*2 TACH – 70mm (rear-most fan)
*3 GND + Orange presence strap
*4 TACH – 70mm (middle fan)
*5 TACH – 70mm (front-most fan)

Fortunately I have the Molex Micro-Fit 3.0 contact extraction tool, and crimp tool handy making this easy, but failing that a new connector and contacts could easily be purchased from Mouser.
In my setup, everything runs from a single battery backed regulated DC +12V source. This is no coincidence, as most I.T. equipment internally runs from +12V, meaning that in almost all cases my gear doesn’t require an internal power supply. This router is no exception, needing only a single +12V source (with 5V standby voltage), so I effectively don’t need the power supply here either.
Good news for this conversion, because that’s another source of heat done away with, in fact it means that I don’t need any cooling in the lower half of the router, so that inlet vent can be blanked up – focusing the cooling Mojo of my single 70mm fan solely on the top (mainboard) half of the router.
But it’s not quite that simple. On my previous router (a 1921) the +12V could be feed straight through to the mainboard with no extra components. On the 2911, we need a bit of extra stuff to satisfy it.
I whipped up a small emulator PCB which fits in place of the power supply’s original PCB, and has all the extra bits needed to satisfy the routers’ software / hardware – i.e. present its’ self as a PWR-2911-AC, leaving the router none-the-wiser to the fact that it is now powered by an impostor power supply. The downside is that there is nothing but empty wasted space in the lower half of the router.
I’m not going to go into the details of this, but you can download its schematic here. While I was at it, I moved the power switch and inlet to the rear and blanked up the front. A little more convenient, because it means I don’t have to grope around in the back of my rack. For anyone else with the desire and patience to construct an emulator board like mine, a 60W power brick can easily replace the internal power supply.
A quick check shows that IOS is happy with my phony power supply, with the temperature sensor working, serial number and model number still reading as per the original AC supply this replaces.See Full List On Cisco.com
The power consumption of an idle unloaded 2911 at the 12V stage is 1.8 Amps (about 23W) – show environment reports a lot higher (38W), I am assuming this takes into account inefficiency in the power supply.
If we are to assume that this is also the unit TDP – It’s practically bupkis given its large size. According to my scientific ‘finger on heatsink’ tests, all of my WIC cards run very cool. The mainboard ASIC also barely gets warm to the touch.Cisco 2911 Module Slots Module
The only thing I need to keep an eye on is the CPU temperature. The CPU in my unit is a Cavium Octeon (MIPS64), which is fairly energy efficient, but still chucks out the loins share of the heat. It has an internal temperature sensor, which we can read out with the ‘show environment’ command.
At 61 degrees, it is 2 degrees hotter than it was with the stock hurricane grade array of fans, where it sat at 59 degrees. Suffice to say that for my light use case, those fans are indeed completely unnecessary.For anyone thinking of attempting this…Cisco 2911 Module Slots Reset
Having a single fan is ideal, because there is no risk of irritating ‘beat patterns’ (which often occur when fans rotating at similar speeds are near each other) – but you can only get away with a single fan if also doing away with the power supply, there’s nothing in the service module bay, and the inlet for the lower half of the router is blanked up. As the PWR-2911-AC does need a little bit of airflow at 30-40 watts, I would suggest replacing with three thinner 70mm fans (like the one I have used) and doing away with / blanking up the 40mm fan, because quiet 40mm fans have so little airflow they’re not really worth it, then strap the tach signal for the 40mm fan to one of the 70mm fans to eliminate software errors.

Phil Peterson’s Key West Poker Run started some 45 years ago as an idea to drum up some business during a normally slow time of the year for his motorcycle business in Miami and Key West. Phil thought if he made a Poker Run event to Key West in August that would do the trick. Phil and a handful of local Motorcycle Clubs, decided to try it. The Run started early Saturday morning with sign-ups at the Miami Store. The Poker Run consists of a ride to Key West hitting five restaurants or bars along the way to draw a card, and arriving in Key West in time to get cleaned up for the Awards Dinner, Dance and Bike Show. The best hands would win prizes and as an added attraction, they had a Best Dressed Contest (where riders and their passengers) would wear matching boots, pants and shirts with their helmets painted to match their bikes so not only was the bike judged but also the riders were judged for the best looking couple and they were awarded trophies. On Sunday morning they would have a Field Meet showing off their rider skills and scored for different events ,i.e. slow race, roll a barrel with your front tire, ride over the feeler-totter plank etc., competing for trophies) in those days there were small well-organized riding clubs with a lot of camaraderie and friendly competition between clubs. Everyone would return home on Sunday afternoon and this went on for many years in the early days of the Poker Run. Today the Poker Run has grown into a major event with police estimates of 10,000 to 15,000 riders. In the recent years it has managed to sell out of all Key West hotels for the day. Drew Peterson, Phil’s son, now manages and promotes the Poker run and believes another way that we can grow this event is to make it a Key’s Bike Week with a Keys Poker Run.

In previous years we have had motorcycle ride events and attractions throughout the Middle and Lower Keys to attract riders to come and stay for the Week and Island hop. There are thousands of hotel rooms and places to stay throughout the middle and lower keys. The idea is to ride down and ride all over the keys for the first three or four days and enjoy many of the things, like snorkeling or dive trips, fishing and fishing trips, kayaking, jet skiing, para-sailing and of course, enjoying Paradise while eating, drinking and shopping. 45 years ago, Phil Peterson came up with the idea of a poker run to boost the motorcycle business, and the Key West tourist trade during the slow September season. What started with 46 riders has grown to become South Florida’s biggest motorcycle party weekend of the year. Today, more than 10,000 riders from all over the U.S. enjoy this event. They rumble from Miami to the Keys, enjoying the sunshine, ocean breezes, and riding on the many bridges that cross over the beautiful turquoise water.
Along the way, they make five stops and draw a card at each stop. The winner is the lucky guy - or gal - who draws the best hand. If you draw one of the top ten hands, you get a chance to play one round of Texas Hold ‘Em for the grand prize!

WOW, that a great ’Poker Run Bike Week’ and weekend this turned out to be!
The weather did not look good according to the weather reports with an 80 to 90% chance of rain for Thursday and Friday but that is NOT how it turned out! The Harley® Gods shined on us once again with only an occasional shower or downpour depending on where you were and when, but with a smartphone and the radar app it was very manageable. The Keys Bike Week with parties and entertainment scheduled for Monday to Thursday started off very slow again this year due to poor weather.
On Friday morning I headed down with Stu Jones from Paradise Riders to film the Run and ride down for another episode of ’The Florida Motorcycle Riding Life Style’ show to be aired on Fox Sun Sports Network this Fall.
The weather for Saturday and Sunday was Blue Skies and Beautiful for the Duval Street Bike Show with all the show bikes parked in front of Rick’s/Dirty Harry’s and Sloppy Joe’s dominated by all the Custom Baggers from all the local builders. They really amped it up this year with their beautiful detailed creations of rolling art producing Booming Music and some great showmanship.

Stu Jones, head of the popular Florida Powerboat Club, is resurrecting a poker run that dropped off the schedule a decade ago.
Known as the Spring Key West Poker Run, the event was once a quite popular part of the FPC calendar years ago, attracting more than 40 powerboat teams and featuring an agenda that was completely different to its sister event—the November Key West Poker Run. For 2020, the March 19-22 getaway will be back, with an entry roster of under 50 boats and a more laid-back agenda, according to Jones. It will include a visit to Boca Grande Key (“a place that we’ve been locked out of for over probably five or six years,” he says), and lodging at the Hyatt Centric Key West Resort and Spa. The four-day adventure will feature a Thursday departure from Miami and a Sunday return.
“I was waiting to see how we hit the numbers on the November run to Key West,” Jones told Powerboat Nation. “When we hit record attendance, I realized that key West is such a popular destination for boaters that it seems a shame that we would only go there once a year.”Miami To Key West Poker Run 2020
Jones says he’s committed to growing the Spring Key West Poker Run event for the foreseeable future. “It will allow participants to enjoy something that’s a little more casual and less stressful than its November counterpart, with slightly better rates, not as much demand and competition for dockage and marinas,” he says.
Jones said one major highlight of the spring run will be the opportunity to take his club members on an organized fun run to Dry Tortugas National Park, including Fort Jefferson, the largest brick masonry structure in the Americas. “It’s one thing that we’ve never done in our club’s 27-year history,” he says. “Everyone asks me about it during our November run, but there have always been too many moving parts, too many other things happening. But the spring run will have a completely different, more relaxed format, and with an extra day, we’ll have the opportunity to take optional local boating trips.”
Meanwhile, Jones is about to embark on his group’s Winter Poker Run (Jan. 24-26), which will take them from North Miami to Faro Blanco Resort on Marathon Key.
Jones said that one consequence of his group’s growth and success has been that members need to plan further in advance. “There’s no such thing as a last minute booking anymore,” he observes. “You can’t just call me a week before the poker run because the weather looks good and say you want to go. It doesn’t work like that anymore.”
The new normal, he explains, suggests that members start planning their poker runs at least 120 days out, with a 60-day deadline that locks in the lowest event and hotel rates. “At the 30-day deadline, rates go up and there’s no guarantee that the participant will get the room or the slip that they request,” Jones says.Peterson’s Key West Poker Run 2020COMMENTS

In a Tuesday announcement, Crown Perth Poker said it would be open again from midday on Saturday 27 June with social distancing policies and strict hygiene measures in place. The reopening comes more than three months after Crown Resorts suspended all gaming operations at both Crown Perth and Crown Melbourne on 23 March due to state-imposed COVID-19 restrictions.
While Crown Perth is opening its doors once again, there has been no word yet as to when Crown Melbourne will follow suit given the recent outbreak of COVID-19 clusters across Victoria.

The Otoe-Missouria Tribe is breaking ground on a construction project at its 7 Clans First Council Casino near Ark City that will include an indoor water park and expansion of the existing hotel.
Tribe officials said the project should be completed, and the new facilities opened, by December of this year. Expansion is expected to bring about roughly 70 new jobs.
An indoor water park with thrill rides and a lazy river is planned for the 7 Clans First Council Hotel and Casino south of Arkansas City in Oklahoma.
